Face Mask? Best secret beauty trick!

I want to talk about one of my favorite beauty tricks that while I don’t mind disclosing I don’t really talk about it often and I don’t think many others either know about it or talk about it.  It is my favorite trick for getting that super smooth foundation finish.

Most people don’t want to talk about those baby hairs we have all over our face.  Some have more/ longer/ thicker than others but we all have them. I’ve only had one makeup educator bring up facial hair removal and I think more people need to be open about it.

I remove ALL the hair from my face, except eyelashes and eyebrows.  I picked this habit up from a childhood friend that is a cosmetologist and when we meet up years after high school she told me that she gets her entire face waxed.  I did the same thing you are probably doing right now.  I was stunned and made her repeat it a couple times, yes the whole face.

So she planted the seed in my head and I just couldn’t get it out,  so I scheduled my appointment and had my entire face waxed.

I got so many compliments the next day at work about how great my makeup looked,  that I looked like a photoshopped ad because all those baby hairs where no longer in my foundation!  I was hooked!

Shortly after that I got a prescription for Retin-A and one of the no-no’s for Retin-A is getting waxed so I had to find a new solution for those pesky blonde baby hairs all over my face.

First I tried treading but that really hurt and when it was over I still had lots of the short baby hairs left and I was not satisfied.  So then I switched to depilatory creams. First I used the Olay one and then I found out I preferred the CVS brand version, it’s less irritating to my skin.

It is about $23 a box, I get at least two full uses out of each box, and I can usually find them buy one get one half off which cuts down on cost as well.

This is how it goes; of course follow the instructions on the box.  You apply the protective balm stick all over your face and rub it in. Then I put a fairly thick layer of cream all over avoiding the eyebrows and areas where my lashes can reach.  Make sure to do weird spots like the end of your nose, and run it slightly under your chin and jaw line.  The first time I didn’t run it under the jaw and with all the baby hairs gone on the face the hairs under my jaw line looked a little too beard like.  I leave mine on for 15 minutes even though the box says 10.  This is how my skin looks immediately after removing the cream with a wet washcloth so you can see that it’s not very red or irritated.

If you try this out you will be amazing the next day when you put your foundation on how smooth your skin looks.
I hope you enjoyed my secret beauty tip!

Wayne Goss – these cruelty free, handmade brushes are amazing

Eye shadow:

Viseart – All of these are amazing,  I’m more than half way through collecting them all.

Eyeliner:

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner – Black or Brown this brush tip is amazing and I love it so much.  (Physicians Formula has a great second place but if its a big event I’m going with Kat Von D’s)

Lash Treatment:

Careprost – does amazing thisng for my lashes.  Shipping is expensive so I buy a years supply at a time.

Lip Treatment:

Fresh Sugar Advanced Therapy Lip Treatment – Slather this on at night before bed every day and you will see results in just a day or two.  So many brides ask me about dry lips and I always tell them this one is worth the price tag.

Lip Color:

Christian Louboutin Velvet Matte Lip Colour – It’s my power color: Rouge Louboutin 001M.  Yes it has a ridiculous price tag but its amazing, beautiful product, beautiful packaging, and always a conversation starter.

Skincare:

Retin A – My prescription from my dermatologist is a must have.  If you can’t get a prescription I would recommend Sunday Riley’s Luna Oil.

Shampoo:

Kerastase Reflection Bain Chroma Captive – This is recommend by my hairdresser, we started using this when I had violet hair as anything red tone likes to fade fast.  It’s amazing at keeping hair looking great no matter how many times or what color you are dying it.

Kerastase Reflection Bain Chroma Captive Shampoo, 34 Ounce

Conditioner:

Macadamia Oil Deep Repair Masque –  Amazing!!! I have tried this up against some much more expensive mask and it is my favorite.  Buy the big one, you won’t be sorry.

Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque - 8.5 oz

Leave-in:

MoroccanOil Treatment Original – I’ve used it for years, like seriously around 6 years, and I can’t live without it and nothing duplicates it.

Moroccanoil Treatment - Argan Oil

Heat Protectors:

John Friday Frizz Ease 3 Day –  Comes in straight and now in Curly.  Love them and they are amazing.  The straight one I have use for years and a plus is that it helps prevent those ponytail creases.

Ending 2015 I am still searching for the following Holy Grail products, if you have some suggestions let me know:

  • Under eye setting powder
  • Mascara
  • Dry Shampoo
  • Highlighter
  • Blush
  • Hairspray

Le Tote

One of my favorite You Tubers mentioned this program on a video and I decided to give it a go.  The best way I can describe Le Tote is a Netflix type version for Clothing, kind of a blend between Rent The Runway & Netflix.
You pay a monthly subscription and the send you clothing & accessories (that may have been previously worn by another subscriber), you have the option of a Jewelry Only version or a Clothing & Jewelry which is the one I chose.  You get 3 garments (could be shirt, skirt, dress, or pants in any combination) & two accessories (bracelets, earnings, necklaces, scarves, etc.).
They ship you your items via 2 day mail and they arrive in a box that looks like this:
Inside are your items they have chosen based on the preference quizzes you did online and sizes & measurements you give them as well.   Here are a few photos of items I have received.

There is a portal on you account website that you rate each item that you receive on if you liked the style or not as well as how it fit.  If you mark the item as not fitting you then mark what about it did not fit so they can attempt to send you more accurate sizes.

If you like an item so much that you would like to keep it than you receive a discount member price that is listed.  Or you can purchase the entire box if you like.

After you have worn all the items you place them in the pre-paid bag that was inside the box, and no you do not have to launder the items they do all of that for you.  And you mail the items back via 2 day mail.  After they receive the items they send you another box, you get an unlimited amount of Le Totes for your monthly subscription, this is where it is very similar to Netflix.  So the more you wear and send back the more you are getting for you money.

I am loving this because I do like to have new clothes to wear, I get bored very easily.  But this way I am not filling up my closet and I am able to wear more new items a month for a lot less that it would be for me to purchase that amount of items.  The cost is equivalent to what I would spend a month buying new items if not less than what I would normally spend.  And I don’t have to find closet space for them or wash them!  So I’m cutting down on laundry & storage space but still get to rock awesome rotating outfits!

Most of the clothes are more business oriented or great for going out on weekends.  I think this would be particularly great for someone starting out in the business world that doesn’t have a huge budget to build a wardrobe but wants to keep a fresh look.

Lunch Hour Haul

I made a quick trip through Ulta and CVS at lunch to pick up some products.

NYX eyeshadow in ES199A Mellow Yellow and ES97 Hot Orange were buy one get one 50% off at Ulta.  I purchased these for a sunset inspired eye look I plan on trying.
The Ulta lipstick in 226 Perfect Nude is a “repurchase” of a sample I had received and really enjoyed. I got the Ulta Brilliant Color Lipgloss in 17 because it was 2 for $8 instead of paying the standard $8 an item since I went for the lipstick.
CVS had buy one 50% off most Maybelline products, I went for the Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Spot Treatment Corrector in Light\Medium that states “diminishes the look of age spots, sun spots, and acne discolorations.” Hoping to help my acne marks that I am also getting chemical peels to help remove. Since the promotion was going on I also got the new Super Stay Makeup 24HR in Honey Beige which may be a tad dark and I may have to go swap out or lighten with powder until I build my tan.  This came hugely recommended and has supposedly been on the set of some TV shows so I’m looking forward to trying this!
Went for the Rimmel Scadaleyes waterproof in 005 Nude and there was another  BOGO sale so I grabbed a needed red lip liner in 024 Diva Red!
Last but not least; my all time favorite especially for cat eyes is the Physicians Formula 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum which one day let to me purchasing the felt tip bold version in dark brown and I have loved that one so much I went back for ultra black.  This is a great series of eyeliners and I highly recommend them!!!!!  They are very pigmented, glide on smooth, long wearing (they don’t come off till you take them off), and offer an added benefit of lash boosting serum!  I have friends that purchase these and they always come back and say how great they are!

So excited!!!

Been super busy and haven’t had a chance to do a post, but wanted to take a quick moment to update everyone on my big news that I’m super excited about!

I have registered for a 6 week long makeup artist course!!! I have been really impressed by the instructor and proposed curriculum and I am itching to start.  They also offer some great CEU courses that make me want to hurry up and finish this class so I can sign up for those!

Non MAC, MAC haul

Yesterday lead to an impromptu shopping trip to my local Premium Outlet Stores for a friend that needed a shopping day.  I never turn down a good shopping trip!  I love this outlet venue mainly because of the The Cosmetic Company Store (CCS), the have a ton of department store makeup and fragrance at discounted prices; such as Estee Lauder, Bobby Brown, Clinique, MAC, etc.  I’m trying to improve my MAC selection, I am a MAC newbie mainly because I can never seem to find a MAC salesperson to help me and purchase something. I have been told that this products are at discounted priced because they are either discontinued colors, collections, or the packaging has been redone so they don’t sell them out the counter any longer.

After my purchase of 3 lip products, a powder, a eye shadow, and a hydrating mist, I cam home and researched what I had purchased.  Only one of the lip colors had been discontinued, the other products are all still for sale at MAC’s website so I am to assume they are the result of re-packaging. I calculated up my discount for all the products, including the discontinued lip color as just a Creamesheen Glass price, I had a savings of over $55!

The largest disadvantage to this store is they only have what they have.  You won’t always find a foundation in your color if they even have the foundation you are looking for.  So I always grab what I can when I find it, yesterday I purchased a Mineralzie Foundation/Loose in Light, right now I am medium so this is two steps down since there is Light Plus between them.  But it will be good for winter time, and I may be able to use it under eyes right now.

So if you are ever in a outlet and see an CCS I highly recommend you stop, even if MAC isn’t your brand they have several others.

I hope everyone is enjoying their Memorial Day! As a Veteran’s Wife I ask that you please remember the meaning of the day, it’s not just about the BBQ’s and Sales (all though those are quite nice).
