Another Airbrush: Temtu

So I have added a new airbrush experience to my makeup trails.  While Temptu ran their family and friends sale I decided to purchase.  So now sits two!

I have been using it for the past three days and I do like it but I consider it in a different category than my other. So here are a few points.
First I had drug my feet on purchasing because I was told it was hard to get a good color match with the air-pod system and I feel with my very olive/yellow tone skin I already experience more difficulty matching foundations than most.  Also with the air pod system there is no true mixing colors like my other system.  The only way to “mix” is by layering.
The foundation is a good color match and finishes with a much more dewy look than typical airbrush foundation.  Like the Kett foundations they do sell a setting powder and I have been setting my makeup with powder because it reminds me almost of a liquid foundation on your skin in the fact that you can kind of move it around on your face, which has positive and negative facets.
I need to find an easier way to hold and control the trigger, my usual “pencil” hold for airbrush does not work as well since this has a much larger handle and the trigger does not pull back as easily. Maybe the trigger will loosen slightly over time.
I think this would be a great piece for someone that likes easy application.  It provides a fast simple application with much lower maintenance that the other airbrush systems.
It is much more sanitary than applying a foundation with sponges, brushes, or your fingers so could be good for someone with bacteria related acne.
So I will be keeping this system and using it for everyday office, out and about weekends, and other casual events.  It is a great simple application that gives a fairly flawless look without careful blending techniques.

Super Cute Lash Case!!!!

Thank you to House of Lashes for creating this product to store false lashes!!!!

I was so excited when I found this product because I hate all of the mis-matched lash cartons around my makeup station!!!
As you can see they are super cute girly details on the outside and hold 3 pairs of lashes on the inside.  There is also a section at the top that you could store tweezers or glue if yours fit. And they snap firmly shut.
I am in love with this product!
They cost $6 for one or 2 for $10!  I also purchased some lashes from House of Lash but since they have not been opened or used they are not pictured here!  They are very nice and I am saving them for a special occasion!

Kett Airbrush Foundations

So I have a very mixed review on Kett Hydro Airbrush foundation.

[[ Hydro Foundation H-O3 35ml. ]]I purchased sample sizes of Olive 3 & 5 to mix together, and this is one of the best color matches I have ever seen on my skin,  I have very yellow tones and this is beautiful!!!!  But I am so sad to report that it leaves a very sticky feeling to the face, and even after a 1/2 hour when I put my sunglasses on it stuck to them and came of my face.

It does set with a powder and have good staying power; and I guess that is just the way it is ment to be used becasue the website recommends:

Suggested items for use with Hydro Foundation:

Kett Sett Powder

Nurturing Force Blot Out Offensive (primer)

Embryolisse Laite Creme Moisturizer

Which just seems to be against the point to me, maybe I will get over it since the color is so great; but who wants to set their airbrush makeup with powder?????

If you would like to give these a try the 7ml sample sizes are only $10 so you don’t feel like you have wasted any money, that’s as cheap as a drug store foundation!

You can find them at :  Kett Hydro

June Ipsy, 5 stars!!!

Received my June Ipsy bag and I am in love with the neon an leopard bag it came with as well as once again in awe of everything your receive for only $10 a month!!!

This is my bag:
The NYX blush is not a good color for me but it will go in my makeup kit because it will be great on someone with a darker skin tone than mine and I love the way cream blush applies!!!
The Starlooks lip liner is very soft and creamy and did not seem to stain my lips like some others that I have tried.
The j.cat glitter pallete is a unique item, they are a cream/gel base and I did try them on buy have not had somewhere to wear them out yet so I can not currently attest to their longevity
The Cailyn eyeliner is a beautiful dusty purple and I love the design with the brush built in to the cap! I wore this to work and it lasted all day!
I’m saving the psssst dry shampoo for my kit or possibly travel since it is a really nice size!
I have yet to be disappointed by the Ipsy subscription; I feel it’s worth the $10 a month!  I have tried other subscriptions that range up to $35 a month and I think the size of the products in the Ipsy make it by far the best deal because there are so many full size products.  Nothing I this months bag was a sample size!!!!  Some of the more expensive boxes charge your more and load you down with repeats of sample packets you could pick up for free at a cosmetic counter, big disappointment!! But not Ipsy!!!

Beauty So Clean

Recommended by celebrity makeup artist as a kit staple is Beauty So Clean sanitizing products; so I ordered me some and they arrived this week!

Germs are a pretty big thing for me, I constantly wipe down everything with Clorox wipes, and keep sanitizing wipes in my purse.  No I don’t carry the gels because they tend to give me a headache.
I got the set with 3 different products and so far the products are as expected.
The Cosmetic Sanitizer Mist cleans powder-based products in 10 seconds and all the products claim the only way to clean, rejuvenate, and remove bacteria  from your makeup without altering its color or drying it out.
The Cosmetic Sanitizing Wipes are for lip gloss, lipstick, lip balm, cosmetic pencils, and mascara wands; they are extremely saturated with product and threw me off a little at first because I was expecting something more similar to a alcohol wipe.
Conditioning Brush Cleanser seems pretty standard, I will report back if I notice any long term benefits.
So far I am pleased with the products and happy to have something other than alcohol which can be so drying to kill bacteria.
Today is Sunday, so I cleaned ALL of my makeup brushes; when is the last time you cleaned yours ?!?!?!

Quick Post Peel Update

Wanted to record this before my days blur together; it is Thursday evening 3 full days after my level 2 chemical peel Monday evening.  My face is shedding  dead skin like crazy!!! Trying to rinse my face gently with my hands revealed tons of pilled skin and putting on the post care evening moisturizer stung for a short time after application.  Hoping some dead skin will come off in my sleep so I don’t look like a molting snake at work tomorrow.  Other than that I have gotten one small zit on my chin, but the peel has not appeared to overly irritate my skin.

Lunch Hour Haul

I made a quick trip through Ulta and CVS at lunch to pick up some products.

NYX eyeshadow in ES199A Mellow Yellow and ES97 Hot Orange were buy one get one 50% off at Ulta.  I purchased these for a sunset inspired eye look I plan on trying.
The Ulta lipstick in 226 Perfect Nude is a “repurchase” of a sample I had received and really enjoyed. I got the Ulta Brilliant Color Lipgloss in 17 because it was 2 for $8 instead of paying the standard $8 an item since I went for the lipstick.
CVS had buy one 50% off most Maybelline products, I went for the Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Spot Treatment Corrector in Light\Medium that states “diminishes the look of age spots, sun spots, and acne discolorations.” Hoping to help my acne marks that I am also getting chemical peels to help remove. Since the promotion was going on I also got the new Super Stay Makeup 24HR in Honey Beige which may be a tad dark and I may have to go swap out or lighten with powder until I build my tan.  This came hugely recommended and has supposedly been on the set of some TV shows so I’m looking forward to trying this!
Went for the Rimmel Scadaleyes waterproof in 005 Nude and there was another  BOGO sale so I grabbed a needed red lip liner in 024 Diva Red!
Last but not least; my all time favorite especially for cat eyes is the Physicians Formula 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum which one day let to me purchasing the felt tip bold version in dark brown and I have loved that one so much I went back for ultra black.  This is a great series of eyeliners and I highly recommend them!!!!!  They are very pigmented, glide on smooth, long wearing (they don’t come off till you take them off), and offer an added benefit of lash boosting serum!  I have friends that purchase these and they always come back and say how great they are!

So excited!!!

Been super busy and haven’t had a chance to do a post, but wanted to take a quick moment to update everyone on my big news that I’m super excited about!

I have registered for a 6 week long makeup artist course!!! I have been really impressed by the instructor and proposed curriculum and I am itching to start.  They also offer some great CEU courses that make me want to hurry up and finish this class so I can sign up for those!

Falsies at work?

Today is the second time I have worn false eyelashes to work, the first pair was much milder than the pair I wore today.  Every morning I think about it, but wonder what is acceptable  for the workplace.  Here is today’s look after work, shopping, and dinner.

These are the beloved Demi Wispies, and probably the most glam I would ever attempt at the office!  I had no client meetings today so I felt brave and tried something new, several positive comments from my co-workers as I am probably known for always pushing the fashion and make-up edge at my office.  Being in a design based career allows me a few freedoms.
So I am curious as to everyone’s thoughts on what is acceptable at the office?  Would you attempt this look on a daily basis, leave a comment and let me know.

Airbrush Make-Up, Mainly Foundation

I AIRBRUSH!!!

I discovered airbrush makeup kind of as a fluke in combination of research for how to get rid of my adult acne, but thought the cost was to much. Shortly after discovering it and looking online I did a photo shoot where there was a makeup artist doing my make-up and hair, and she airbrushed my makeup.  I was IN LOVE!!!!   I had been watching airbrush for long enough and was in big debate between Luminess & Dinair systems; thus my huge discovery of YouTube tutorials. None of the videos I watched really swayed me one way or another, but then I spotted a great deal on HauteLook.  So my first compressor kit was purchased from HauteLook and it was a Luminess Air.

I really had a hard time getting the foundation that came with my kit to look right on my skin; so I called the makeup artist that had done my make up previously and she came to my house and did a private lesson and we really focused on the airbrush.  She uses a professional grade (large & loud) compressor and Dinair Foundation.  So I ordered some Dinair foundations and those are definitely better suited in color and formula to my skin and completely compatible with the compressor I had.  I started with mainly using the paramedical foundation because at that time I had so much acne on my face.  Now I only use the paramedical for spot coverage of any acne I may have and use their Colair formula for my overall foundation & blush.

I have since switched compressors; when Belletto Studios came out they ran a sale on HauteLook (seeing a trend?) and I purchased since I had never heard of them in all my research.  I do like their foundation formula, it’s just not quite as good of a color match as the Dinair to my skin. (Note: since trying the original Belletto foundations I have seen that they released new colors, I have not yet tried out the new range so there may now be a better match)  But I LOVE their compressor, I have given away my old Luminess compressor and now use my Belletto Compressor.

I mentioned earlier that I airbrush my foundation & blush, however, I have not fallen in love with airbrushing my eyeshadow or under-eyes.  I just don’t like the look and after taking a few airbrush course I have decided that for the 360 eye area traditional application is best in my opinion.

Hopefully this post will help someone on their quest into airbrush makeup, if anyone has any questions please feel free to leave a comment and I will do my best to answer.

I emailed Belletto about a Pro Discount, they do not offer one but there are several promo codes on YouTube that will get you a great starter kit for around $60.

Also Dinair has a great program that you upload a photo of you without makeup and they will email you back with your color matches, it was very accurate for me and only took a day or two to receive my report that including foundation, blush, eyeshadow, and eyebrow color recommendations.  So if you don’t know what color to start with give them a try.

I had the chance to try Elements II Beauty airbrush at a class held by their creator Mark Harvey. The compressor is almost identical to my Belletto compressor so win there!  Foundations have good colors for me, but was slightly similar to the Kett airbrush foundation in the fact that I feel the need to set with powder.  I would rate the E2B foundation as less of a hassle than the Kett but it does not rank as one of my all time favorites.

For awhile when I experience dryer skin I was really liking mixing Graftobian or Kiralee Airbrush foundation with my Dinair Glamour foundation.  They are almost two different extremes, but mixed well and gave my face a really great finish.  I am sure depending on my skin texture this will be used occasionally as needed.  Graftobian has a very dewy finish and Dinair is much more matte.Kiralee is dewy but not to the extreme of Graftobian

All of the products mentioned in this post are water bases.  I have used and am familiar with silicon based airbrush foundations as well but feel they fall in a different category and will keep them separate.  I also do not recommend those for anyone with acne.   While silicon does not cause acne I find those formulas to be more irritating to my skin.
